Members are advised to use a Hospital on Affinity Health's Preferred Hospital list. If a different hospital is used, substantial shortfalls and co-payments may apply and the member will be liable for payment of such shortfall or co-payment* Pre-authorisation is essential for all hospital visits.

*While members may still experience shortfalls at a Preferred Hospital, the shortfall amounts will be substantially less. Please refer to your Policy Wording for maximum benefit limits and co-payments

Acute Hospital

A facility providing medical care, surgical treatment and nursing care for the sick or injured, usually including a 24hour emergency unit.

Day Hospital

A facility for surgical procedures or treatment where the patient is not required to stay overnight and may return home on the same day as the procedure.

Sub-acute Facility

Sub-acute facilities treat and care for patients after they have been discharged from hospital. These facilities will admit patients directly for certain types of illness/treatments, as referred by the treating GP/Doctor.
